The Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Florina, the Municipality of Florina and the consulting company LEVER SA, are going to organise seminars for training businesses of the Municipalities of Amyntaio and Florina, to prepare them for submitting an application for the “Brown Bear Quality Label” for bear-friendly products and services.
On Friday, 26-06-2020 at 22:30pm, a trapped bear was found in a resident’s yard in a house located in the centre of Agios Vartholomaios Square of the Municipality of Florina. The Fire Department of the area, which was the one to be called, immediately informed the Forest Directorate of Florina of the Decentralised Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia.
Then the Forest Directorate of Florina notified the Emergency Response Team to deal with the incident.
The Decentralised Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia proceeded with the immediate imposing of measures for managing man-bear interractions, due to bear appearances in the two cities.
In particular, the Directorate of Forests of Florina was informed by telephone on Tuesday 07-04-2020 for a bear appearance by a resident, who provided all the necessary information about the bear’s raid on Sunday 5th and Monday 6th of April on his farm, located behind the Railway Station of the city of Florina.
A baby bear was found dead on 05/03/2020 at 20:30 pm from the Police Directorate of Florina, in the 29th km of the old provincial road of Amyntaio-Florina, in the location Kleidi of Amyntaio.

On November 5, an event took place in Pedino, Amyntaio, with great success, where the measures to prevent damage from bears and tackling the phenomenon of poisoned baits use were discussed. The event was organised by the Municipality of Amyntaio and the Environmental Organisation “Callisto”, who are partners of the LIFE AMYBEAR project (www.lifeamybear.eu), in collaboration with the Livestock and Sheep Breeding Cooperative of the Amyntaio area.
