The Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Florina, the Municipality of Florina and the consulting company LEVER SA, are going to organise seminars for training businesses of the Municipalities of Amyntaio and Florina, to prepare them for submitting an application for the “Brown Bear Quality Label” for bear-friendly products and services.

The seminars will be held on Wednesday, September 2 at 5:30 pm, in the hall of the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Amyntaio and will be addressed to the companies of the primary sector, as well as to other companies. The content of the seminars will be a detailed presentation of the requirements that each company should comply with depending on its type of activity and the procedures that should be followed in order to receive the Mark.

The “Brown Bear Quality Label” was developed by the company LEVER SA, in the framework of the LIFE AMYBEAR project. The development of this brand, besides aiming at improving the conditions of man-bear co-existence, will contribute to the recognition of the brown bear, not only as a species with environmental value, but also with economic value.

The Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Florina, even though is not a project partner, accepted the proposal of the partnership to be the Management and Awarding Body of the Label in the two municipalities, by considering the added value to the businesses of the area, as it will also contribute to the outward-looking entrepreneurship, and shall set the prospects of increased recognition and development of the entire area of the Regional Unit of Florina, especially given the post-lignite period of the wider area.

The LIFE AMYBEAR project started its implementation since October 2016 and will be completed in November 2021. LEVER-Development Consultants, the Municipality of Amyntaio and the Directorate of Forests of the Decentralised Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia and the Environmental Organisation “Callisto” are formulating the partnership of the project.
