A baby bear was found dead on 05/03/2020 at 20:30 pm from the Police Directorate of Florina, in the 29th km of the old provincial road of Amyntaio-Florina, in the location Kleidi of Amyntaio.

The Florina Forest Directorate of the Decentralised Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia was immediately informed by the Police Directorate about the incident and mobilised the Emergency Response Team of the Regional Unit of Florina, who went to the spot where the dead animal was found. The autopsy revealed that it was a young male baby bear of about 40 kilos, which was found dead on the side of the road, most likely from a car accident.

Following the suggentions of the Florina Forest Directorate of the Decentrilised Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia and the assistance of the Municipality of Amyntaio, all the necessary actions were taken for the burian of the animal. What needs to be underlined is that the Emergency Response Team of the Regional Unit of Florina has been established since 04-09-2014 according to the JMC 104180/433/2014 and is responsible for managing incidents of bears and other wildlife species approaching in residential areas.
