Callisto, in the framework of the LIFE AMYBEAR project, planned environmental education activities in the Municipality of Amyntaio, aiming to promote the brown bear’s ecosystem in the area, and also to inform the public about the NATURA 2000 Network.

For this purpose, two paths suitable for hiking trails for the general public were selected and informative and educational material was developed for their promotion, visitors’ information and the implementation of environmental actions by schools. Through these trails, people will have the opportunity to be informed about biodiversity, the agricultural life and production, the crops, and the villages and local communities of the area that coexist with the wildlife.

During March 2019, the first seminar took place, where these material were presented, followed by a consultation with the representatives of KPE Melitis the Union of Lehovites entitled “O Profitis Elias”, primary school teachers, students, and teachers from the Pedagogical Department. More than 80 people attended the seminar.

After the consultation, the production of the information material was completed and is now ready for distribution. During this period, the next two (2) informative seminars will take place, where the project and information material will be presented. The seminars shall be combined with two (2) guided tours by those in charge of the action in the two (2) thematic trails of the Coexistence of the Municipality of Amyntaio.
