On Friday, 26-06-2020 at 22:30pm, a trapped bear was found in a resident’s yard in a house located in the centre of Agios Vartholomaios Square of the Municipality of Florina. The Fire Department of the area, which was the one to be called, immediately informed the Forest Directorate of Florina of the Decentralised Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia.

Then the Forest Directorate of Florina notified the Emergency Response Team to deal with the incident.

The Mayor of Florina, the president of the Local Community of Agios Vartholomaios, members of the Fire and Police Department, and members of the Emergency Response Team of Florina (representatives from the Environmental Organisations “Arcturos” & “Callisto”), who are responsible for managing incidents of bear and other wildlife species appearances in residential areas.

Following the instructions of the Forest Directorate of Florina and by the assistance of the Fire and Police Department of Florina, all the necessary actions were taken to repel the animal.
