Mr.Mertzanis (LIFE ARCKAS, LIFE AmyBear & LIFE SAFE CROSSING) responded (on behalf of Callisto NGO) to the challenge by Life Dinalp, coming from the coordinators in Slovenia at the seminar that took place on 08/04/2019 with a title: "Fragmentation/Connectivity of bear habitats on transport axes - compensatory-management measures". The seminar took place at the University of Ljubljana in an audience of representatives of Ministries, Technical Services and Construction Companies.
In LIFE AMYBEAR 's Action E5 - Environmental Education Activities- the environmental NGO Callistohas undertaken seminars aimed at primary and secondary school teachers, environmental education specialists and students of the pedagogical immediate proximity to the project area.The seminars will be carried out in cooperation with the rest of the project partners (Municipality of Amyntaio, Decentralized Management of Epirus - Western Macedonia, Lever Development Advisor).

Four workshops will be held from 16th to 19th of April at the Municipality Council of
Amyntaio. The workshops are organized under Action C1 of the LIFE AMYBEAR project. The
aim of this action is to consult with the local community and the contribution of all its
stakeholders to the achievement of the objectives of the project: to improve the coexistence
of man and bear. For each workshop, a series of initial speeches is scheduled and then a

On 29/3/2018 07:00 a.m. the Department of Forests of Florina of the Decentralized Administration of Epirus-Western Macedonia
was notified by telephone by the Hellenic Police for a car accident between a passing vehicle and a bear in the 12th km of
Amyntaio- Kastoria and specifically at Aetos Amyntaiou. The members of the Rapid Response Team of the Forestry Division of
Florina immediately rushed to the area, spotting the bear a hundred meters from the road in an adjacent field.

On July 19, 2017, and around 3:00 am, another road accident was reported involving a bear as its victim on the new Amyntaio - Florina highway at the height of the "Kleidi" area in Amyntaio, in particular in the area of Orovos. To the unlucky animal, a young male, death came instantly due to internal bleeding caused by the violent conflict. Despite the damage to the car, the driver continued his journey and the traffic police was informed of the body of the animal by other drivers.
The field team of LIFE AMY BEAR project was very efficient recently. The people of Callisto have visited many areas of Amyntaio and Florina for the needs of the project's actions. In addition, the operations of the Instant Response Team (IRT) also involved Forest Service officials, multiplying the positive impact of the actions.
